Several of us own rescued herding dogs (Border Collies and Australian Shepherds) and after much searching have found a great location and gifted instructor for sheep herding. We use and highly recommend Robin Elliott of http://robinonthelamb.com/ We drive out every other Sunday to her training location in Fillmore (about an hour and half drive north of the South Bay). If you have a herding breed, this is a fun and challenging hobby. It's also a great excuse to get out into the countryside. Robin teaches in a gorgeous location at the bottom of quiet foothills, next to a bubbling stream, in the middle of an orange grove. We always come back refreshed and our dogs come by happy and tired.
